How students may request additional time for proof of funds when applying for a student visa

Category: Student Visa

Question asked

Hi,

I've applied for the student visa on my own and I'm in Australia right now. Immigration has requested for proof of funds. My home country (India) is dealing with the pandemic (covid-19) like every other country and my father was admitted to the hospital a while ago in France for shortness of breath. We have all the documents from the hospital.

As my parents are not very tech-savvy and still fulfil their banking needs in-person, it'll be much too risky for my father to be going out there.

My question is would the immigration consider giving me an exemption on providing proof of funds?

Thank you.
H.

Answer provided by Migration Agent

Hi H.,

Thanks for your query on ask an agent.

Yes, circumstances are very unfortunate now but please note that there is no legislative provision to waive funds requirements for AL3 country. In fact they could refuse visa without requesting funds as you would have declared at the time of application of having enough funds. Also banking sector is open in most part of the world.

However considering your father’s health, you can request for additional time to show these funding evidences & in these circumstances, its likely you would get it. Do attach all evidences to support your claim.

Please let me know if you need more information on this.
